Continuing instalments to recover paid money in life insurance

Question
Asalam u Alaikum;
this question is very very important as my very close friend is involved in this question. i will quote the question with fake name, say Asim.

Asim had a life insurance 2 months back in NJI, thinking that it is not Haram in Islam. Now he came to know that it is Haram therefore he wants to quit. but he had already paid Rs.50,000 to NJI. he asked me that "if i pay full installements of 1 year, i will be able to get back my principle amount of the whole year & if i quit right now i will have to lose my whole money paid upto date." he continues," i will not attain any interest on that money after a year, only withdraw the principle amount and also if during that period of a year any accident happens, Khuda na Khausta, then his family will not take any amount from NJI." he has a firm belief to quit NJI but he does not want to lose his money already paid.

Is it allowed according to Islam that a person pay 1 year installements only thinking to re-gain his pronciple amount.

Please reply me as early as possible, as it is very very impportant for me.Therefore i have not asked local scholars.

Answer
Wa alaikumussalam wa Rahmatullah
Although the agreement he did was void and was to be cancelled immediately, it`s tolerable for him to continue instalments only to recover his paid money. say him to do Istigfar for this disliked delay.
